House of Hope

1.House of Hope and annex: (2 Safe houses) Opened 1 June 2006 We adapt and equip the house to provide living facilities for 12 babies & toddlers at a time. By caring for the babies we mean: - Bed, bath, food, clothes, medical care and placement into foster care or finding homes for adoption, or arranging Hospice care if needed. WE ALSO USE THESE HOUSES AS A CRISIS HOME BEING THE ONLY PLACE IN WELKOM WERE CHILDREN IN A CRISIS SITUATION CAN GO FOR THE NIGHT OR UNTIL A SAFE SITUATION CAN BE FOUND FOR THEM. 2.House of Joy: (Foster home for babies) opened February 2006
  • Adapt and equip the house to provide living facilities for 6 toddlers at a time. By caring for the toddlers, we mean: -Bed, bath, food, clothes, medical care and education in a daily pre-school group.
  • These homes will be their "forever family".
3.House of Love & House of Peace: (2 Cluster Foster care Homes) opened on the 2 July 2005 Adapt and equip the house to provide living facilities for 12 toddlers at a time. By caring for the children we mean: - Bed, bath, food, clothes, medical care, schooling and preparing them for life or just loving them for a "few" years.Abovementioned project is also part of the Government’s planning to launch professional foster homes with parents loving/caring for 6 children per house under supervision. In total we speak of 33 children (if all the houses are full according to social departments rules, sometimes we have more in the safe houses). We have 14 permanent staff i.e. 5 trained house mothers, 6 day workers, 2 nightworkers and 1 social worker; we also train and appoint day shift and night shift assistants; recruit and train volunteers. We also used to have 10 volunteers on a stipend every month, currently we are waiting for health for a new sponsorship. We also use Nido Health Care Workers every second month doing their practical as training in or houses. We also: Network with Welfare organizations/Service providers/similar projects in Welkom and surrounding areas in order to introduce and maintain the House of Hope. Network with local clinics and hospitals for references and medical support. Network with Adoption Agencies/ Foster Care Agencies regarding permanent placing of babies. House of Hope - xmas boxies
